Sangakkara made his Test debut on 20 July 2000 and reached his 8000th run in August 2010 in his 152nd innings in his 91st Test. It was the 3rd match of a series on India’s tour of Sri Lanka played in Colombo. In that match, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 425 to which Sangakkara contributed 75. India replied with 436 before dismissing Sri Lanka for 267 in their second innings. Set a target of 258, India won the match by 5 wickets. Sangakkara reached 8000 Test runs during his second innings knock of 28.

SR Tendulkar (India)p>Tendulkar debuted on 15 November 1989 and got to 8000 Test runs in his 154th innings in his 96th Test in May 2002 in Kingston which was the 5th match of a series on India’s tour of West Indies. West Indies batted first in that match and scored 422 before dismissing India for 212. The hosts were bowled out for 197 in their second knock. Sobers began playing Test cricket on 30 March 1954 and got past 8000 Test runs in his 157th innings in his 91st match played in February 1974 in Kingston. It was the 2nd Test of a series on England’s tour of the West Indies. England batted first and scored 353. In reply, West Indies declared their innings at 583/9. England were 432/9 in their second innings when stumps were drawn. Sobers contributed 57 to the West Indian score.
