Kohli is the leading scorer in the IPL with 5716 runs so far scored for a single franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Throughout his career that began with the inaugural IPL season in 2008, he has scored these runs in 177 innings (185 matches) with an average of 38.62 and a strike rate of above 130. Kohli has scored 5 centuries – second-most in the IPLs – and 38 half-centuries – joint third-most in the history of the IPL.

Kolhi is the second player behind Suresh Raina to reach the 5000-run mark. He reached the milestone on 28 March 2019 at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore in a day-night encounter against Mumbai Indians. Kohli was 46 runs short of 5000 runs before that match and he managed to score exactly 46 to get to 5000 runs.

Suresh Raina has scored a total of 5368 runs in 189 innings (193 matches) in 12 seasons of the IPL, from the first one in 2008 to the last one in 2019. He is out of IPL 2020 for personal reasons. He scored all these runs for two franchises, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujrat Lions (GL). Suresh Raina represented GL when CSK was banned for two years in 2016 and 2017. He averages 33.34 in the IPL and has scored at a strike rate of 137.14 with 1 century and 38 half-centuries, joint third-highest in the IPL.
Suresh Raina reached the 5000-run mark in the first match of the IPL 2019. He ended the 2018 IPL being just 15 runs short of 5000 runs. He got there in CSK’s opening encounter against Royal Challengers Bangalore on 23 March 2019. Chasing a paltry score of 71, Raina scored 19 in 21 balls and became the first in IPLs to reach 5000 runs.
Raina has been consistent across all seasons of the IPL he has taken part in. 2010 (520 Runs), 2013 (548 Runs) and 2014 (523 Runs) were his best seasons in the IPL. He has been the backbone of CSK’s batting for all these years and thus, CSK is missing him big time in the IPL 2020. Raina has received 14 Man of the Match awards in his career.

Rohit Sharma, just as Raina, has 1 century and 38 half-centuries in the IPL. He has scored these runs playing mostly for Mumbai Indians. For three seasons, from 2008 to 2010, he was representing the now-defunct franchise, Deccan Chargers.Rohit Sharma reached the 5000-run mark on 1 October 2020 in a match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). Rohit Sharma scored 90 runs out of the 191 scored by Mumbai Indians (MI). MI won the match by 48 runs.
Rohit Sharma has been consistent across the years spent in the IPL with 2013 being his best season with 538 runs at an average of 38.42 and a strike rate of 131.54. In his IPL career, he has won 18 Man of the Match awards so far.

When he gets to the milestone, he will be the fastest to get there in terms of innings played.Another one approaching the milestone is Shikhar Dhawan. The next few batsmen in line are AB de Villiers, currently at 4625 runs, MS Dhoni who has 4565 runs to his name and Universe Boss Chris Gayle with 4537 IPL runs so far.
