Team England Report

England’s likely XI for the first ODI will probably include the following players: Morgan (capt), Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran, Mark Wood

Dream11 Fantasy Team for 1st ODIp>Some players selected themselves. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Ben Stokes and Hardik Pandya can walk into any ODI team. For the remaining players, we were unable to select players like Rahul and Buttler as they are classified as wicketkeepers, and Pant is our first choice for the job. Dhawan has not been in great form, so we opted for Roy whose consistency in the T20I series was impressive. For the other middle order batting spot, we preferred Bairstow who has been more consistent than Shreyas Iyer.

Between Sam Curran and Washington Sundar, we opted for Curran as an allrounder option, as we don’t expect spin-friendly conditions at Pune. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mark Wood were our top bowling choices after their good showing in the T20I series. The last bowling choice was Y Chahal who finds favour over Rashid in Indian conditions.

Our final Dream 11 reads as follows:  Sharma, Kohli, Bairstow, Roy, Pant, Stokes, Hardik, Curran, Kumar, Wood, and Chahal.

Summary

strong>Once we had selected our Dream 11, we had to pick the captain and vice-captain of the squad. We preferred Rohit Sharma as captain, mainly because as opening batsman, he seems likely to get a higher score than anybody else. Kohli, who had three 70-plus innings in the T20I series, was our automatic choice for vice-captain.
