An award of USD 1.6 million along with the Test Championship Mace will be presented to the winners of the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and New Zealand. According to an announcement by the ICC, USD 800,000 will be awarded to the losing team. In case of a tie or a no-result finish owing to rain, the prize money of USD 2.4 million will be shared by the two teams.
Statement by ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardyce
Test cricket will have official world champions for the first time. In a statement to the media, Geoff Allardice, the ICC chief executive observed, “It (the WTC) has come to symbolise the best team in Test cricket, and with the Test championship now being used as the vehicle to identify the best team in Test cricket, the mace is on offer.”

Teams toTeams to Share Mace in the Event of a Stalemate
The test mace was earlier given to the highest ranked Test teams every year. According to a media release by the ICC, the mace will henceforth be given to the team winning the World Test Championship. In the event of a tie or a draw, possession of the mace will be shared by the two teams.

An amount of USD 450,000 will be awarded to Australia, the third-ranked team on the WTC points table, while USD 350,000 will go to England who finished in fourth place. Pakistan who were fifth will receive USD 200,000, while the other participant teams, namely, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies will each be given USD 100,000.

India and New Zealand are the teams contesting in the final in Southampton from June 18 to 22. An additional day, June 23, has been provided as a reserve day that can be used only if it is not possible to make up for time lost during regulations hours of play every day on that day. The result day will be used to bowl a maximum of 83 overs — the total time not to exceed 330 minutes — apart from the actual last hour of play.

A central belt surrounding the globe carries the insignia of the 12 competing Test nations. The designers have allowed space on the belt to add other nations in the future.
