Dream11 Surrey vs Middlesex: May 20, County Championship 2021 Prediction

Dream11 Surrey vs Middlesex May 20, County Championship 2021 Prediction

Surrey vs Middlesex Match Details

In this article, we preview Surrey vs Middlesex, the match scheduled to be played in the County Championship 2021 from May 20 in London. In a match between otherwise comparable sides, Surrey appear to hold the edge, with relatively more consistent top-order batsmen.

Team Middlesex Report

Middlesex are likely to retain the team that played against Hampshire on 13 May: Sam Robson, Jack Davies, Nick Gubbins, Peter Handscomb, Robbie White, John Simpson, Martin Andersson, James Harris, Blake Cullen, Ethan Bamber, Tim Murtagh.

Team Surrey Report

We expect Surrey to field the same eleven that featured against Leicestershire on 6 May: Rory Burns, Mark Stoneman, Hashim Amla, Ollie Pope, Ben Foakes, Jamie Smith, Jordan Clark, Jamie Overton, Rickie Clarke, Reece Topley, Amar Virdi.

Dream11 Fantasy Team

Wicket-keepers

While Foakes is a better keeper, Simpson has been more consistent with the bat. He has had starts in virtually every game though he has not converted any of them into a substantial innings.

Batsmen

Pope is the in-form batsman for Surrey, with innings of 245 and 131. Burns and Stoneman have had a couple of good innings each, with Stoneman scoring a ton against Leicester. After a poor start to the season, Amla scored 215 against Hants. His latest innings of 56 versus the same opponents on 13 May cemented his place in our Dream11. White has been relatively consistent in a shaky Middlesex top order, with four fifties in his last five games. In the absence of effective batting all-rounders, we decided to go with an additional batsman in Gubbins, who has had regular starts, converting some to fifties in three of his last four matches.

All-Rounders

While Surrey’s Clark has been taking wickets regularly, he is yet to do justice with the bat. So, we gave our all-rounder spot to Middlesex’s Andersson, who has taken wickets and has had starts with the bat in almost every game. He is due for a substantial innings.

Bowlers

Murtagh has been Middlesex’s most impressive bowler with 17 wickets in his first four games. He was particularly impressive against Somerset, taking 7 wickets in that game. Bamber has been close on Murtagh’s heels, with 14 wickets in his first four matches, including an impressive 3/24 against Somerset. Surrey’s Virdi has been the best advertisement for the efficacy of spin bowling in county cricket, with 14 wickets in his first four games. His haul of 6/171 against Leicester is fresh in our memory.
