But a 56-run stand for the 3rd wicket saw them recover to a position of relative comfort at 71 for 3 in 8 overs. But a regular fall of wickets thereafter did not allow United to us ethe platform they had built. They were soon in dire straits at 110 for 8 in the 16th over. But a rearguard action led by Hasan Ali saw them finish at a respectable 174/9. While Munro scored 44 from 29 balls, Hasan Ali made 45 from 16. Several batsmen got off to start but failed to capitalize. For Zalmi, Wahab Riaz and Umaid Asif took 2 wickets each while M Imran, M Irfan and Amad Butt took one each.

They lost their skipper Rizwan in the 2nd over but a 53-run partnership for the second wicket brought the innings back on track. Despite the fall of the 3rd wicket without addition of runs, a 63-run stand for the 4th wicket between Maqsood and Jonathan Charles took them to a position of relative comfort at 122 for 4 in the 15th over. Sultans did well to reach 180/5, thanks largely to Khushdil Shah who scored 42 off 22 batting at number six. Maqsood top scored with 59 from 41 balls, while Charles (41) and Masood (25) were the other contributors. For United, Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf took two wickets each, while Akif Javed took the only other wicket to fall.

Three early wickets for just 14 runs saw United in trouble from which they never really recovered. They were soon reduced to 61 for 5. But a glimmer of hope in the form of a 50-run stand for the 6th wicket. But once Usman Khawaja was out with the scoreboard reading 111 for 6, the innings unravelled, and the Islamabad franchise were bundled out for 149 in the 19th over. While Tanvir and Muzabarani took 3 wickets each while Imran Tahir grabbed two, and Imran Khan took one.
