Shan Masood is a Pakistani cricketer born on 14th October 1989. He is a left-handed batsman and usually opens the innings in Red ball cricket for Pakistan. He has scored a plethora of runs in first-class and Lists A matches; scored 7189 runs from 125 first-class matches and 4068 runs from 92 List A matches. He made his National debut for Pakistan on 14th Oct 2013 against South Africa.

Shan Masood, a talented top-order Pakistan batsman made his international debut in a match against South Africa in 2013. In his debut game, he displayed great determination and composure in his 75 runs knock in the first inning. It’s never easy scoring runs against the proteas greats Steyn, Morkel and Philander but Shan Masood passed the entire storm and proved his mettle.
Playing in his 5th Test, Shan Masood smashed his first Test century against Sri Lanka; and also scored 15 runs in the second inning. Following that performance, he did not manage to score any century in his next 14 Test matches. Later in the home series against Sri Lanka in 2019, he has been overlooked for the initial two matches, however, in the last game, he grabs the opportunity with both the hands by scoring 135 runs from 198 runs – this was his second test century.
In his very next Test match against Bangladesh, Shan Masood smashed the third century. His good batting-performances awarded him a place in the Pakistan tour of England on July 2020. Playing in his first game of the series, Shan Masood played a remarkable knock of 156 playing against deadly English bowlers and on difficult playing conditions. It was an inning of great determination and patience. Notably, it was his third consecutive century. The knock almost helped Pakistan topple the English at their home.
Shan Masood is only a second Pakistani Opening batsman to smash three centuries in a row. He is currently the second-best Pakistani batsman in the ICC Test ranking after Babar Azam. Overall in his 23 Test match career so far, Shan Masood scored 1368 runs at an average of 31.81, which included four centuries and 6 fifties.
Shan Masood staggering aggressive of 54.24 in List A matches also awarded him an ODI debut against Australia in the 22nd March 2019. In the five matches ODI series against Australia, Shan Masood batted at his usual position in the absence of regular opener Fakhar Zaman. He played all the five matches of the series. In the debut match, he scored 40 from 62 balls. However, in the next three matches, he failed to cross 20’s, which also includes duck in his fourth ODI game. But, in the last game of the series, he scored his first ODI fifty smashing 50 from 54 balls in the final match of the series. In total, he has scored 111 runs from his 5 ODI career so far. Considering his batting form in recent times, he is likely to get more opportunities in ODI matches.
