The sides last met in the first leg of the PSL season in Karachi on 20 February 2021. Batting first in that game, Gladiators got off to a poor start, losing 2 wickets for just 17 runs. Clarke, who scored 46 off 23 balls, was the top scorer for Kings, while Babar (24), Ingram (17) and Nabi (30) played useful cameos. For Gladiators, Hasnain (2/18) and Shinwari (1/10) were the only wicket-takers.
