Test Career

Mohammed Nawaz has scored 50 runs in 3 Tests at 12.50 and taken 5 wickets at 29.40. He played his first Test match against the West Indies in Dubai on 13 October 2016. He took 4/70 in that game. Pakistan batted first and scored 579/3 declared. In reply, the West Indies were bowled out for 357. Nawaz contributed with bowling figures of 2/38, taking the wickets of Darren Bravo and D Bishoo. Chasing a target of 346 in the last innings, the West Indies could manage only 289. This time around, Nawaz took the wickets of Blackwood and Bishoo while conceding 32 runs. In the second Test of the series, Nawaz made 25 runs in Pakistan’s first innings and took 1/37 in a match that Pakistan won. He last appeared in a Test against the West Indies held in Sharjah on 30 October 2016.

Nawaz has scored 199 runs in 15 ODIs and at 22.11 and taken 17 wickets at 35.70. He took 1/14 in his first ODI against Ireland in Dublin in August 2016. He also scored 53, his only half-century, in Pakistan’s first innings score of 337/6, before Ireland collapsed to be all out for 82. Playing against England in Nottingham on 30 August 2016, Nawaz underscored his all-round ability, though, in a lost cause. Batting first, England piled up a mammoth score of 444/3. Nawaz took the wicket of England skipper Root while conceding 60 runs. In reply, Pakistan were bowled out for 275 runs in 42.4 overs. Batting at number 7, Nawaz scored 34 off 36 balls and was involved in a partnership of 47 with Sarfaraz Ahmed. Nawaz registered his best bowling figures of 4/42 against the West Indies in Sharjah in September 2016. In that game, Pakistan batted first and scored 284/9 before bowling out the West Indies for 175. Nawaz took the wickets of middle-order batsmen Bravo, Ramdin, Pollard and Brathwaite. He made an all-round contribution by scoring 19 in Pakistan’s innings. He last appeared in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Karachi in October 2019.

T20I Career

Nawaz has taken 12 wickets in 13 T20I matches at 28.33. He played his first T20I match against the UAE in Dhaka in February 2016. On 1 April 2018, Pakistan batted first against the West Indies in Karachi in the first game of a series. The hosts scored 203/5 and, in reply, the West Indies collapsed to be bowled out for 60. Nawaz took 2/19 in his quota of 4 overs, snaring the wickets of Walton and Samuels. He registered his best bowling figures of 2/11 against Zimbabwe in Harare in July 2018. Batting first, Pakistan made 182/4 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 108. Nawaz got rid of both Zimbabwe openers, Mire and Chibhabha, to contribute to a 74-run victory. He last appeared in a T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare in July 2018.
