1. Trent Boult (NZ)
Boult has played 90 ODIs and taken 164 wickets at 25.29 with his best bowling figures of 7/34. Since January 2019, he has taken 38 wickets in 21 matches at 24.94. He achieved his best bowling performance against India in Hamilton, in the 4th match of a series on India’s tour of New Zealand on 31 January 2019. Batting first, India were bowled out for 92. Boult took 5/21 from 10 overs, accounting for the wickets of Sharma, Dhawan, Gill, Jadhav and H Pandya. In reply, New Zealand chased down the target in 14.4 overs with 8 wickets to spare.
2. Jasprit Bumrah (Ind)
Bumrah has taken 104 wickets in 64 matches at 24.43 with his best bowling figures of 5/27. Since January 2019, he has played 20 matches and taken 26 wickets at 34.09. His best figures during this period came against Bangladesh in Birmingham during the ICC World Cup. Batting first in the game, India posted 314/9. Replying, Bangladesh were bowled out for 286 thanks to Bumrah’s bowling figures of 4/55, accounting for the scalps of M Hossain, S Rahman, R Hossain and M Rahman.
3. Mujeeb Ur Rahman (Afg)
Mujeeb has played 40 ODIs in which he has taken 63 wickets at 22.44 with his best bowling figures of 5/50. Since January 2019, he has taken 19 wickets in 17 matches at 30.26. During this period, he achieved his best bowling performance against Ireland in the 1st game of a series in Dehradun. Batting first, Ireland were bowled out for 161. Mujeeb took the wickets of Porterfield, Balbirnie and McCollum while giving away just 14 runs. Afghanistan chased down the needed runs with 5 wickets in hand.
4. Chris Woakes (Eng)
Woakes has accounted for 149 scalps in 104 matches at 30.34 with his best bowling figures of 6/45. Since January 2019, he has taken 36 wickets in 24 matches at 29.38. He was at his most impressive in the 5th ODI of a series against Pakistan in Leeds on 19 May 2019. Batting first, England piled up 319/9. Woakes dismissed 5 Pakistan batsmen for 54 to help bowl them out for 297, accounting for the wickets of openers Fakhar Zaman and Abid Ali, top-order batsman Md Hafeez, and tail-enders Imad Wasim and Hasan Ali.
5. Kagiso Rabada (RSA)
Rabada has captured 117 wickets in 75 ODIs at 27.34 with his best bowling figures of 6/16. He has played 18 matches since January 2019 to take 24 wickets at 32.12. His best bowling performance was against Sri Lanka in Centurion, in the 2nd game of a series. Batting first, South Africa were bowled out for 251 in 45.1 overs. When Sri Lanka batted, the hosts struck back, dismissing them for 138 in 32.2 overs, with Rabada contributing figures of 3/43, including the wickets of Dickwella, DM de Silva and A Dananjaya.
6. Pat Cummins (Aus)
Cummins has played 67 matches in which he has taken 108 wickets at 28.48 with his best bowling figures of 5/70. Since January 2019, he has played 25 matches to capture 43 wickets at 26.58. His best performance came against India in Mohali on 10 March 2019 when India batted first to score 358/9. On a flat batting track, Cummins took 5/70 including the scalps of Dhawan, Pant, Jadhav, Shankar and Chahal. Australia chased down the target with 4 wickets to spare.
7. Mohammad Amir (Pak)
Amir has captured 81 scalps in 61 matches at 29.62 with his best bowling figures of 5/30. Since January 2019, he has played 15 matches in which he has taken 23 wickets at 25.65. His best bowling came against Australia in Taunton on 12 June 2019 during the ICC World Cup. In that game, Australia batted first and were bowled out for 307 in 49 overs thanks to Amir’s haul of 5/30, including the scalps of Finch, Marsh, Khawaja, Carey and Starc. Unfortunately for Amir and his team, Pakistan collapsed from a strong position of 136/2 to become all out for 266.
8. Josh Hazlewood (Aus)
Hazlewood has taken 82 wickets in 51 matches at 25.90 with his best bowling figures of 6/52. Josh made a comeback to the Australian team in January 2020 after a hiatus of 14 months. Since then, he has played 7 matches to take 10 wickets at 31.30. His best bowling in 2020 came against England in Manchester on 11 September 2020. Batting first, Australia scored 294/9. In reply, England were restricted to 275/9 thanks to Hazlewood’s figures of 3/26, including the wickets of Roy, Root and Ali.
9. Matt Henry (NZ)
Henry has played 52 ODIs in which he has taken 92 wickets at 26.48 with his best bowling figures of 5/30. He has played 16 matches since January 2019 in which he has captured 24 wickets at 30.66. His best bowling performance during this period came against India in Wellington on 3 February 2019. Batting first, India were bowled out for 252, with Henry claiming 4/35 while accounting for the dismissals of Sharma, Gill, Rayudu and Jadhav. Unfortunately for Henry and New Zealand, the hosts were themselves bowled out for 217 in 44.1 overs to grant India the win by 35 runs.
10. Jofra Archer (Eng)
Archer made his ODI debut in May 2019 against Ireland in Dublin. Since then he has played 17 matches to claim 30 wickets at an average of 24.00. Jofra achieved his best bowling performance against South Africa at the Oval on 30 March 2019 during the ICC World Cup. England batted first and posted 311/8 on the board. In reply, South Africa were bowled out for 207 in 39.5 overs thanks largely to Archer’s figures of 3/27, including the wickets of Markram, Du Plessis and Van der Dussen, paving the way for England to win the game by 104 runs.
