Born on 8 June 1987 in Jamaica, Andre McCarthy was a slightly late bloomer in all three formats. The middle-order batsman featured in the West Indies squad in the 2006 Under-19 World Cup alongside the likes of Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine and Andre Fletcher. He played three games in that tournament but couldn’t make it big. However, it took him seven years to make his debut in the domestic arena.
