Domestic Career

Hendricks had an excellent first-class season in 2012 – 2013, snaring 35 scalps in 7 games, which made the national selectors pay their closest attention to the promising player. He shone for South Africa A in the winter season and bagged an impressive 11 wickets in a game versus India A held in Pretoria. As a result, he was awarded the IPL contract worth Rs. 1.8 crore with Kings XI Punjab.

In August 2017, Bloem City Blazers picked Hendricks for the maiden edition of the T20 Global League. However, this competition was canceled later. In June 2018, Highveld Lions selected him for the 2018 – 2019 season. Then, in October 2018, Jozi Stars chose him for the maiden season of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament.

In 2018 – 2019, he was the best wicket-claimer for Lions in the CSA 4-Day Franchise Series with 32 scalps in 8 games. After that, in September 2019, Nelson Mandela Bay Giants included him in their squad for the 2019 Mzansi Super League competition. Then, in 2020, Mumbai Indians released him before the IPL auction.

International Career

Hendricks made his T20I debut against Australia at Durban in March 2014. He played his first ODI versus Pakistan in January 2019. Hendricks replaced injured Dale Steyn in the South African team for the 2019 ODI World Cup. He played his maiden Test against England in January 2020. Hendricks shone immediately and grabbed a five-for in the second essay. In March 2020, the South African board awarded him a contract for the 2020 – 2021 season.

Hendricks played a total of 7 games in the 2014 and 2015 seasons of the IPL, snaring 9 wickets at an average of 26.11, an economy rate of 9.40 and a strike rate of 16.66. His best figures in an IPL game are 3/36.

Hendricks played for Belville Cricket Club in Cape Town and was steadily pursuing his career goals in his province. He impressed the audience with his ability to bowl at 140 kph and skillfully swing his deliveries. Hendricks became a regular feature of Cape Cobras during the 2012 – 2013 season. He learned a lot while bowling with Charl Langeveldt and Johann Louw and grabbed 35 wickets at 17.74 that season.

Hendricks shone for the South African A team in 2013 bagging five-fors versus India A and Australia A, earning plaudits from cricket pundits. The latest news is that he has earned a national contract for the 2020 – 2021 season from the South African cricket board.
