Born in Napier on 13 October 1993, Blair Tickner is a right-arm medium-fast bowler who plays for New Zealand in the international arena and Central District in domestic tournaments. Tickner made his first-class debut against Auckland in 2015, taking two wickets in a losing cause. Blair Tickner became the leading wicket-taker for Central District in Super Smash 2017 by taking 21 wickets in 11 games at an average of 15.76 and an economy of 8.07. He helped Central District win their third title in 2018 after a gap of 10 years by taking 16 wickets at an average of 15.93. Tickner was the third leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

Tickner impressed selectors by back-to-back strong performances and was given a T20I debut against India on 10 February 2019. He took a crucial wicket of Rishabh Pant, helping New Zealand win the game by 4 runs and hence, the series by 2-1. Blair Tickner has played 5 T20I and has taken 4 wickets at an average of 44.25 and an economy of 9.83 which he will undoubtedly look to improve in the future.

Tickner was called up for the third ODI against India in February 2020. However, he didn’t make it to the final 11.
