Devon Conway was born on 8 July 1991 in Johannesburg, South Africa. He currently plays international cricket for New Zealand after the ICC (International Cricket Council) confirmed his eligibility to play for them in March 2020. In May 2020, Conway got a central contract from the New Zealand board for the 2020-21 season. He played his first T20I in November 2020 versus the Windies in Auckland.

Cricketing Career

In August 2015, Gauteng picked Conway for the Africa T20 Cup. He made 53 runs in 3 matches that season.

In June 2018, Wellington awarded Conway a contract for the 2018-19 New Zealand domestic season. In the 2018-19 Plunket Shield, Conway cracked an unbeaten double hundred versus Otago.

Conway topped the runs tally in the 2018-19 Super Smash, amassing 363 runs in 9 games. He also had the highest runs tally in the Plunket Shield in 2018-19, plundering 659 runs in 7 matches.

In March 2019, Conway was selected by New Zealand Cricket as the Domestic Player of the Year in the men’s section. In October 2019, he cracked 327 not out for Wellington versus Canterbury. His total tally in that match was 393 runs, the highest by any player in a first-class game in New Zealand.

In January 2020, in the Super Smash competition, Conway blasted an unbeaten hundred from just 49 deliveries. He topped the runs tally in that tournament, cracking 543 runs in 11 games.

Conway also had the best runs tally in the Ford Trophy in 2019-20, smashing 553 runs in 10 matches. He was the highest scorer in the Plunket Shield in 2019-20 as well, blasting 701 runs in 6 games.

In April 2020, New Zealand Cricket named Conway the Domestic Player of the Year in the men’s section.

In November 2020, Conway was selected in the New Zealand A team to play practice games against the visiting Windies team. In December 2020, he was included in the Kiwi Test squad to replace the injured BJ Watling.
