T20 Franchise and Domestic Career

Allen came into the limelight by scoring fifties in 3 successive matches in the Regional Four Day Competition in the 2016 – 2017 season. He was selected by the St Kitts and Nevis patriots franchise to play in the 2017 CPL (Caribbean Premier League). In November 2017, Allen cracked his maiden first-class century, scoring an unbeaten 169 versus Trinidad and Tobago in the Regional Four Day Competition.

In October 2018, Allen was picked by Sylhet Sixers for the 2018 – 2019 season of the BPL (Bangladesh Premier League). He was retained by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the 2020 CPL.

International Career

Allen played his first ODI for the Windies against India in October 2018. He debuted in T20Is playing against the same team the next month. He was a member of the Windies squad that played in the 2019 ODI World Cup. Later, in July 2019, the Windies cricket board offered him a contract for the 2019 – 2020 season.

ODI Career Stats

As of July 2020, Allen has played 14 ODIs, clobbering 143 runs at an average of 15.88 and a scoring rate of 110.00 with 1 fifty. His highest ODI score is 51. He has bagged 4 wickets in ODIs at an average of 99.25, an economy rate of 6.01 and a strike rate of 99.00.

T20I Career Stats

Allen has also appeared in 13 T20Is, stroking 67 runs at an average of 9.57 and a scoring rate of 113.55. He has scalped 11 wickets in T20Is at an average of 21.63, an economy rate of 6.80 and a strike rate of 19.0.

Personal Life

Allen had a lucky escape in 2016 when he injured his left elbow in a car accident. He could have easily lost his arm as the accident was serious. Allen says he tried to protect another driver coming from the opposite direction but lost control and his car turned over.

However, Allen’s iron will enabled him to overcome the physical and psychological consequences of the deadly accident and play cricket once again. Arguably, his best moment in international cricket to date is his blazing fifty scored versus Sri Lanka in the 2019 ODI World Cup, which, however, couldn’t prevent a Windies’ defeat.
