Hayden Walsh (born 23 Apr. 1992) is an Antiguan-American cricket player who has appeared for both the U.S. and the West Indies in international cricket. He bowls right-arm leg-spin and bats right-handed.

Background

Walsh’s home town is Saint Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, so he is a U.S. citizen by birth. His father, Hayden, and uncle, Vaughn, both played first-class cricket for the Leeward Islands.

West Indies Domestic Cricket

Walsh played his maiden first-class match for the Leeward Islands in the Regional Four Day Competition in 2011 – 2012. In a game against Trinidad and Tobago, he grabbed 4/47, including the scalps of international players Rayad Emrit and Jason Mohammed. In August 2018, Walsh played his first match for St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL (Caribbean Premier League).

USA Cricket

Walsh starred in his first T20I match for the U.S. against the UAE in March 2019. His ODI debut for the U.S. was against Papua New Guinea in April 2019. In June 2019, Vancouver Knights picked Walsh in their squad for the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament. In August 2019, he was chosen to be a part of the U.S. side for the Regional Finals of the 2018 – 2019 T20 World Cup Americas Qualifier.

West Indies Career

Walsh played his first ODI for the Windies against Afghanistan in November 2019. He thus became the 14th cricket player to represent two nations in ODIs. The same month he featured in his first T20I game for the Windies after playing 8 T20Is for the U.S. He became the 9th player to represent two countries in T20Is. In July 2020, Barbados Tridents picked him for the 2020 CPL.

ODI Career Stats

As of September 2020, Walsh has starred in 10 ODIs, claiming 12 wickets at an average of 27.58, an economy rate of 5.28 and a strike rate of 31.3 with 1 four-for. His best ODI figures are 4/36.
