Test Career

Kasun has played 8 Test matches and taken 25 wickets at 30.52. He took 5 wickets in his first Test match against the West Indies in Gros Islet on 14 June 2016 with figures of 3/49 and 2/23 in two innings and the wickets of Brathwaite, Smith, Powell, Bishoo and Holder. Sri Lanka scored 253 and 342 in their two knocks and the hosts responded with 300 and 147/5 in a drawn game. Rajitha registered his best bowling in an innings during the second Test of the series in Bridgetown in June 2018. Batting first, the West Indies made 204 before dismissing Sri Lanka for 154 to gain a handy lead of 50. However, they collapsed for 94 in their second knock. Kasun had figures of 3/20 to add to his first-innings haul of 3/68, enabling a chaseable target of 144 for Sri Lanka to register a 4-wicket victory. Kasun last appeared in a Test against Zimbabwe in Harare on 19 January 2020.

ODI Career

Rajitha has taken 9 wickets in 9 ODIs at 42.11. He took 1/46 in a losing cause in his first ODI against South Africa in Dambulla on 1 August 2018. Batting first against England in Colombo on 23 October 2018, Sri Lanka scored 366/6. Kasun returned figures of 1/21, accounting for the wicket of opener Jason Roy, as England were restricted to 132/9. Kasun registered his best bowling performance in his last appearance in an ODI against Bangladesh in Colombo on 31 July 2019. In that game, Sri Lanka batted first and scored 294/8. When Bangladesh batted, Rajitha took 2/17 in 5 overs, responsible for the early dismissals of Bangladesh openers Anamul Haque and Tamim Iqbal. The tourists did not recover from the early blows and got bowled out for 172, enabling Sri Lanka to register a 122-run victory.

T20I Career

Kasun Rajitha has played 9 T20Is in which he has taken 10 wickets at 28.30. He achieved his best bowling figures of 3/29 in his first T20I against India in Pune on 9 February 2016. In a brilliant opening spell, Rajitha dismissed Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane to reduce India to 32/3 in 5 overs. The hosts never recovered from the blow and ended up making a modest 101 before being bowled out. Sri Lanka chased down the target with 5 wickets and 12 balls to spare. Kasun had another brilliant bowling performance against New Zealand in Auckland on 11 January  2019. New Zealand batted first and in Rajitha’s opening spell, the paceman accounted for the wickets of Munro and Seifert. At one point, the Kiwis were reeling at 27 for 4 but relied on a rearguard effort to post a score of 179/7 before bowling out Sri Lanka for 144. Kasun last appeared in a T20I against Australia in Adelaide on 27 October 2019.
