Jamal is an occasional right-arm leg-break bowler as well. He has been a part of Afghanistan’s under-19 team as well as the under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

ODI Career

Jamal made his ODI debut in July 2014 against Zimbabwe. Since his debut in 2014, he has played many crucial knocks in the middle order but has struggled to cement his spot in the side because of his knack for throwing away his wicket once set. In 15 ODIs, he has made 352 runs at an average of 27.08 and a strike rate of 65.55.

Test Career

In May 2018, Jamal was included in Afghanistan’s team for their first-ever Test match but he did not make it to the playing XI. Then, in February 2019, Jamal again joined Afghanistan’s team for their one-off Test match against Ireland held in India but did not get to play in that match.

Finally, he made his Test debut later in 2019. Jamal has played one Test match so far. This match was against the West Indies in November 2019. In the match, he scored just 17 runs.
