Domestic Career

Nazmul has featured for Dhaka Division, South Zone and East Zone in domestic cricket and played for the Bangladesh under-23 and A teams. In October 2018, Rangpur Riders picked him in their squad for the 2018 – 2019 BPL (Bangladesh Premier League). In November 2019, Sylhet Thunder selected him in their side for the 2019 – 2020 BPL edition.

International Career

Nazmul played his maiden T20I match against Sri Lanka in February 2018. He made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in September 2018. Nazmul’s Test debut was against Zimbabwe in November 2018. In June 2020, he was reported to have tested COVID-19 positive along with fellow cricketers Nafees Iqbal and Mashrafe Mortaza.

Other Details

Nazmul is a smart spinner who made his first-class debut aged just 19 in 2010. In 2013 – 2014, he had a breakthrough season, grabbing 31 scalps in the National Cricket League. Nevertheless, when it was time for the national selection, he was still behind other spinners like Saqlain Sajib, Enamul Haque Jr. and Abdur Razzak.

Nazmul’s good showing in the BPL caught selectors’ attention. He claimed 12 scalps in the 2017 edition which earned him a spot in the Bangladesh T20I side in February 2018. He was not successful in international cricket initially but his effectiveness later impressed cricket experts.

As of September 2020, Nazmul has played 1 Test in which he claimed 4 wickets at an average of 19.00 and a strike rate of 43.5. His best test innings figures are 2/27.

ODI Career Stats

Nazmul has starred in 5 ODIs, snaring 5 scalps at an average of 44.80, an economy rate of 5.09 and a strike rate of 52.8. His best figures in an ODI innings are 2/38.
