Bertus has bravely overcome the tragedy of losing his father and battled on with his cricketing career. In the BBL (Big Bash League), Sydney Sixers signed him but he hasn’t played a match for them to date.

Nicholas Bertus’s father, Nigel, who took an active interest in his son’s cricketing career, succumbed to multiple system dystrophy, leaving Nicholas sad and desolate as he was close to his father. Nick lost his motivation to perform well.

Nick’s mother then guided him on the right path and he did well that season. Soon, he played his first Sheffield Shield match for NSW.
