Regis Chakabva is a Zimbabwean wicket-keeper-batsman who can also bowl off-breaks as a part-time bowler. He has served the Zimbabwe team in all three formats of the game.

Test Career

Chakabva played his first Test match against New Zealand at Bulawayo in November 2011. He made 37 and 5 in two innings of the match that New Zealand won. He got his first Test fifty in the very next match at Napier, scoring 63. He came to bat with the score at 12/5 and when he was out the scoreboard read 9/143. He got his first ton (101) against Bangladesh at Khulna in November 2014. In the process, he was involved in a 147-run partnership with Mazakadza. He has had many more good innings. In 17 matches, Regis has scored 806 runs at 25.18, with the top score of 101. He has also made 34 catches and 4 stumpings.

ODI Career

He played his first ODI against Kenya at Nairobi in October 2008. He scored 41 in a match that Zimbabwe ended up losing. In April 2009, playing against the UAE at Harare, Chakabva made a match-winning unbeaten 78, being an opener. He played his last match against Bangladesh at Sylhet. When he scored 34 in another losing cause. In 41 matches, Regis has scored 646 runs at 17.94 with his top score of 78 not out. He has also made 29 catches and 4 stumpings.

T20I Career

In his first T20I match against Pakistan at Canada’s King City in October 2008, Chakabva scored only one run in a match that Zimbabwe lost. He underscored his batting ability in September 2019 against Afghanistan in a tri-series held at Dhaka by scoring an unbeaten 42 to help Zimbabwe chase down the target of 156. In the same month, he scored 48 in Singapore against the hosts while chasing 182 for victory. The match ended in a thriller with Zimbabwe losing by four runs. He played his last match in Singapore against the hosts in October 2019. In 12 T20I matches, Regis has scored 158 runs at an average of 14.45 with the top score of 48 not out.
