Shuvagata Hom was born on 11 November 1986 in Mymensing, Bangladesh. This right-handed batting all-rounder has made his name by playing some impressive knocks in first-class cricket for the Dhaka division.

Shuvagata was brought to Dhaka by a talent scout to play for their first division side. On his debut, he scored 52 runs in 82 balls, batting at number 7. In a practice game against England, he smashed 91 runs in 30 balls, hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes. 10 seasons later, he has more than 5000 runs and 200 wickets in his pocket gained in 95 games.
Shuvagata Hom got his chance to play for Bangladesh in an ODI series against Zimbabwe in August 2011. So far, he has played 4 ODIs for Bangladesh and has scored 70 runs with an average of 35.
Shuvagata was picked by Sylhet Royals in the inaugural Bangladesh Premier League. Since then he has played for Barisal Burners (Barisal Bulls), Sylhet Sixers and is currently a member of Dhaka Platoon.
Shuvagata has played 8 Test matches for Bangladesh since his debut against the West Indies on 5 September 2014. He played his last Test in October 2016 against England. He has scored 244 runs and has taken 8 wickets. He was selected for Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2016 campaign in India after Taskin Ahmed had been suspended from bowling for illegal action.
Shuvagata made his international debut for Bangladesh in a T20I game against Sri Lanka on 15 February 2018. He scored a quick 26-ball 52 runs in his second game against Zimbabwe and got his first Man of the match award.
