Abu Hider came into the limelight early in his career when he grabbed 9 wickets in a one-day match against Qatar during the U-19 ACC Trophy in 2012. Hider was born and raised in a small town Netrokona which is 168 km away from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. For the 2015 BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) edition, Comilla Victorians picked him in their squad.

Hider claimed 22 scalps in the BPL that year including the prize wickets of Kumar Sangakkara, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah. He boasts lethal yorkers and a good pace and can turn out to be a handful even for the best batsmen. At the beginning of 2016, Hider was selected by Bangladesh for 3 T20 tournaments. His last international match was a T20I versus the Windies held in Dhaka in December 2018.
