Afif Hossain, born on 22 September 1999 in Khulna, Bangladesh, caught the attention of Bangladesh Cricket after an impressive debut in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) for Rajshahi Kings. At the age of 17, he took 5 wickets for 21 runs including Chris Gayle’s wicket. He bats left-handed while bowls right-arm off-break. The middle-order all-rounder earned his place in the national T20 team in 2018.

Afif vice-captained Bangladesh U-19 cricket team in Asia Cup 2016. He scored 141 runs in 4 games including a fifty against Pakistan. He caught the eye of the Bangladeshi national selectors with his performance in the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2018 where he scored 276 runs in 6 games with an average of 46 and 4 half-centuries.

Bought by Rajshahi Kings in 2016, Afif has played 38 games so far, scoring 743 runs with a strike rate of 124.87. He was also picked up by St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots for the CPL T20 2019 campaign but was withdrawn later when the Bangladesh Cricket Board did not give him NOC as he was playing a series against Sri Lanka emerging team.

Afif Hossain made his international debut for Bangladesh in a T20 game against Sri Lanka on 15 February 2018. He scored a quick 26-ball 52 runs in his second game against Zimbabwe and got his first Man of the match award. He also made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in the third ODI of their 2020 tour on 6 March 2020.
