Shehzad made his first-class debut at the age of 16 only, in 2007. He had a superb performance in his first-class career. He played 18 first-class matches and scored 5504 runs at a healthy average of 41.69. He scored 14 centuries and 30 fifties in his first-class career. He also played 149 List A matches at an early age and scored 6100 runs with 16 centuries and 36 fifties at an average of 42.95.

ODI Career

He was a part of Pakistan’s Under-19 World Cup team in 2008. After grabbing the attention of selectors with his domestic cricket showings, he made his One Day International and Twenty20 International debut for Pakistan in April 2009 against Australia at the age of 17 only. He struggled in that series against Australia but retained his spot for the away series against New Zealand and showed his skills with the bat. He represented Pakistan in the 2011 World Cup and opened the innings for Pakistan. Pakistan went on to reach the semis of the World Cup. Shehzad played 81 ODI Internationals for Pakistan, scoring 2605 runs with 6 centuries and 14 fifties. His average in ODIs is 32.56. He has scored his first 3 centuries while playing abroad in New Zealand, the West Indies and South Africa. He has performed exceptionally well against Sri Lanka and New Zealand. He has scored 662 runs from 18 matches against Sri Lanka and 488 runs against New Zealand in 15 matches.

Test Career

Shehzad made his Test debut almost 4 years after his ODI debut. He got selected for Pakistan’s squad against Sri Lanka. He struggled in first two Test matches but immediately impressed everyone with the century in the third Test against Sri Lanka. However, he failed to perform consistently later on and forced selectors to have him out of the Test team. He played a total of 13 Test matches and scored 982 runs in 25 innings, scoring 3 centuries at an average of 50.98. He played his Test matches only against Australia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and the West Indies. In the Tests too, he performed well against Sri Lanka. He scored 502 runs from 8 Tests against them. He played only 1 Test match against New Zealand and scored a superb knock of 176 runs.

T20I Career

While playing in T20I after his debut against the Aussies, he has not demonstrated his top-class performance yet. By playing 59 matches, he scored 1471 runs at an average of just 25.80. He played 3 ICC T20 World Cups in total. In 2009, he played just 1 match in his World Cup campaign but he came stronger in 2014 and scored a superb knock of 111 runs against Bangladesh. He also became the first cricketer from Pakistan to score hundreds in every format of the game. He had the most runs and the most sixes in a T20 innings by a Pakistani player in addition to him being the fastest 5000-run-scorer in T20 cricket from Pakistan. He has also played for the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League and is also the highest run-scorer for the Quetta Gladiators.

In September 2015, Shehzad married Sana Murad and the couple had a baby boy in 2017.  Shehzad was raised by a single parent, his mother Anarkali. He is well-known by his nickname, Shehzada.
