Ebadot Hossain had a long way from playing volleyball for Bangladesh Air Force to bowling in Test cricket. His Test debut was against New Zealand in Hamilton in February – March 2019. Ebadot travelled 343 km from his native town to Faridpur to participate in the Robi Pacer Hunt in 2016. He got picked among the top three pacers and scouts selected him for a coaching camp in Dhaka.

Former Pakistani fast bowler Aaqib Javed was impressed by Ebadot while on a training stint in Bangladesh. Ebadot then played for Sylhet in first-class cricket. Rajshahi Kings picked him in their BPL (Bangladesh Premier League) squad. In the 2018 – 2019 BCL first-class competition, Ebadot bagged 21 scalps, including many top international batters. In the 2019 BPL, he claimed 4/17 for the Sylhet Sixers against Chittagong Vikings. This good spell of bowling earned him a place in the Bangladeshi Test squad, replacing the injured Taskin Ahmed.
