Gary Wilson is a wicket-keeper-batsman who plays for the Ireland team. He has been a regular member of the squad for over a decade. In January 2020, he was one of the nineteen players to be awarded a full-time central contract. He has also represented Surrey and Derbyshire in the county cricket.

Gary Wilson was born on 5 February 1986 in Dundonald, Northern Ireland. He represented Ireland in the 2004 and 2006 U-19 World Cups and impressed everyone with both his batting and wicket-keeping skills. He made his ODI debut against India in 2007 and T20I debut against Scotland in 2008. He has been an indispensable part of the Ireland team for the last 10 years.
Wilson has played in all three formats of the game with a combined tally of 187 international caps. He is one of the stalwarts of the team, having scored 2072 ODI runs and 1268 T20I runs with a century and 15 half-centuries to his name. He has been a superb keeper behind the stumps causing 136 international dismissals. He showed himself as an outstanding wicket-keeper in the 2011 World Cup and 2015 World Cup squads. He has played 2 Test matches and debuted in Ireland`s first-ever Test match against Pakistan in 2019.
He was appointed captain of the Ireland T20I team in February 2019 was leading his team during 9 matches. He captained the team in the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers in 2019. He did not have great success with a lone victory and 7 losses and stepped down from captaincy in November 2019.
