Kevin O’Brien was born on 4 March 1984 in Dublin, Ireland.  His father Brendan O’Brien and brother Niall O’Brien have also been prominent players of the Ireland team. Throughout his career, Kevin O’Brien has played in all three formats for Ireland. In January 2020, he was one of the nineteen players to get a full-time contract from Cricket Ireland. At different times, O’Brien was part of various teams, such as Gloucestershire, Surrey, Middlesex, Somerset, Nottinghamshire, Rangpur Riders, and Trinidad and Tobago.

One-Day Internationals

Kevin O’Brien debuted in Ireland`s first-ever ODI match against England in June 2006. He is the most capped ODI player for Ireland with 145 international appearances. He has 3546 runs with 2 centuries, 18 fifties and 113 taken wickets to his name. He has captained Ireland in 4 ODI matches as a stand-in captain.

He represented Ireland in 2007, 2011 and 2015 World Cup matches. He helped his team to gain victory with brilliant knocks in 2007 and 2011 World Cup matches against Bangladesh and England respectively. He smashed the fastest World Cup century in 50 balls against England in the 2011 World Cup to chase down a massive 300+ total.

He is the only player to score a century in T20Is for Ireland. O’Brien represented Ireland in five T20 World Cups (2009, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016) and led his team to victory in the 2009 World Cup against Bangladesh.
