Naseem has played 7 test matches and taken 16 wickets at 34.81, with best bowling figures of 5/31. He played his first test match against Australia at Brisbane, where he took just the one wicket while conceding 68 runs. In the next series against the visiting Sri Lanka team, Shah took his first five-wicket haul in an innings at Karachi. Sri Lanka, who were set a fourth innings target of 476, collapsed to be all out for 212, thanks to Naseem’s returns of 5/31. Shah took the wickets of Mendis, Chandimal, Perera, Embuldeniya, and Fernando to underscore his prodigious talent. In February 2020, at Rawalpindi against the touring Bangladesh team, Shah took 1/61 in the first innings in which the tourists were bowled out for 233. Pakistan scored 445 in their knock to take a sizeable first-innings lead. When Bangladesh batted again, they were dismissed for 168, with Naseem Shah causing the most destruction with figures of 4/26. His victims included top order batsmen Saif Hassan, Najmul Shanto, Taijul Islam and Mahmudullah. Hs exploits earned him a ‘Man of the Match’ award. Shah last appeared in a test against England at Southampton in August 2020.
