Shadman Islam has scored 275 runs in 6 Test matches at an average of 25.00 with the highest score of 76. He achieved that score in his first Test innings against the West Indies in Dhaka in November 2018. Bangladesh batted first in that match. Opening the innings, Shadman made his runs off 199 balls and shared an opening stand of 42 with Soumya Sarkar as well as a 2nd-wicket partnership of 45 with Mominul Haq and a 3rd-wicket stand of 64 with Mohamad Mithun to help propel Bangladesh to a score of 508. Replying, the West Indies collapsed to be all out for 111. Following on, they collapsed yet again for a second-innings score of 213, leaving Bangladesh the winners by an innings and 184 runs. Shadman Islam had several good starts that he failed to convert into big scores. For instance, he made scores of 24 and 37 against New Zealand in Hamilton. In that game, Bangladesh batted first and were all out for 234. The Kiwis, in reply, piled up a score of 715/6 declared. Bangladesh collapsed in their second knock for 429 to leave New Zealand the winners by an innings and 52 runs. Islam made 27 and 29 against New Zealand in the next match held in Wellington. Batting first, Bangladesh could make only 211 in their first innings. New Zealand declared their innings at 432/6. Needing 221 to avoid an innings defeat Bangladesh scored only 209 in their second innings, allowing New Zealand to register another innings victory. Shadman Islam also had scores of 41 and 29 against Afghanistan and India respectively. Shadman played his last Test match against India in Kolkata in November 2019.
