Taijul Islam (born 7 February 1992) is a competent left-arm orthodox spin bowler who has bagged more than 100 Test wickets for Bangladesh. His Test debut was on the 2014 West Indies tour. In his maiden Test, he grabbed a five-for. Later in 2014, Taijul grabbed the best-ever test innings figures achieved by a Bangladeshi bowler which was his 8/39 against Zimbabwe. He was also the first player to claim a hat trick on an ODI debut.

On his Test debut against the Windies in Kingstown in September 2014, Taijul snared 5/135 as the home team notched up 484/7 declared in the first essay. Later that year, playing against Zimbabwe, he claimed 8/39 and hit the winning runs in a 3-wicket victory to be awarded the Player of the Match.
In his ODI debut match played against Zimbabwe in December 2014, Taijul grabbed 4/11 in 7 overs with a hat trick. He was the fourth Bangladeshi bowler after Rubel Hossain, Abdur Razzak and Shahadat Hossian to snare a hat trick in ODIs. In 2015, Taijul bagged 6/163 in a Test against Pakistan. In April 2018, the BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board) granted him a central contract for the 2018 season. Taijul made his T20I debut in September 2015 and grabbed a wicket with his first ball.
