The teams last met on 2 May in Delhi. Rajasthan Royals batted first in that game. After the loss of Yashasvi Jaiswal’s wicket at one for 17, Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson got together in a 150-run partnership for the second wicket. Butler made a top score with 124 in 64 balls to help his side to a substantial score of 220 for three. Rashid Khan took one for 24 to emerge the most impressive bowler for Sunrisers.
When SRH replied, they got off to a good start with a 57-run opening stand. But once the partnership was broken, they lost regular wickets to be reduced to 127 for five in the 15th over. RR beat PBKS in their first match of the 2nd leg of the IPL on 21 September. SRH lost to DC on 22 September.
