Match Preview and Odds

p>Both teams will go into the ODI series with confidence. England, who are the current world champions, have several players in good form. Roy, Buttler, Bairstow, Malan, Morgan and Stokes are a formidable bunch of batsmen who can individually turn a match in their side’s favour. Though England will miss the services of Archer, they will find consolation in the fact that Bumrah will be missing in the Indian eleven. In Curran and Wood, England have reliable new ball operators who will be assisted by Ben Stokes and Chris Jordan. With Moeen Ali likely to play, England also have a formidable spin partner for Rashid.

India are likely to opt for KL Rahul over Shreyas Iyer in the middle order, considering Rahul’s superior international experience. If India have a worry, it’s in the bowling department, where, in the absence of Bumrah, all eyes will be on Siraj and Thakur, though Bhuvneshwar’s showing in the T20I series has given reason for cheer. Kohli’s go-to man could turn out to be Chahal whose performance in the middle overs, alongside Sundar, could determine whether the strong England batting will perform to potential.

India’s Likely XI: Virat Kohli (Capt), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Hardik, Rishabh Pant (wk), Washington Sundar, Y Chahal, Md Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Bhuvneshwar Kumar

England’s likely XI: Morgan (capt), Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran, Mark Wood
