Thereafter, England lost regular wickets and ended up with a score of 180 for six in their allotted overs. For Sri Lanka, Chameera was the most successful bowler taking four for 17. Binura Fernando and Isuru Udana took one wicket each.

In reply, Sri Lanka got off to a very bad start, losing three wickets for only 29 runs. Thereafter, Sri Lanka lost wickets regularly and from the relative comfort of 61 for four in the 12th over slipped to 64 for eight in the 15th. They were eventually all out for 91 in 18.5 overs, handing England an 89-run victory. For Sri Lanka, Binura Fernando (20) was the top scorer with his 20 while Oshada Fernando scored 19 and Niroshan Dickwella made 11. No other batsman got to double figures. David Willey was England’s best bowler on display with three for 27. Sam Curran took 2 for 14, while Chris Woakes, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali took one wicket each.
