Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars Match Preview: November 14, 2020

Ahead of the PZ vs LQ PSL eliminator in Karachi on 14 November, PZ enjoy an 8-2 head-to-head advantage over LQ.

The two sides last met in their second league meeting in Lahore on March 10. PZ batted first and scored 187/7 in their allotted overs. LQ chased it down with five wickets and one ball to spare.

After PZ lost early wickets, they were rescued by Shoaib Malik (62 off 43 balls) and Haider Ali (69 off 43 balls) to help them to a competitive score. For LQ, Shaheen Afridi was the most successful bowler taking 3/28. When LQ batted, their opening batsmen gave them a good start, but the middle order’s wobble had them struggling before a rearguard action in which Chris Lynn scored 59 off 32. Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer with 63 off 46. Brathwaite (3/27) and Wahab Riaz (1/27) shone among the PZ bowlers.

Lahore Qalandars

p>Peshawar Zalmi vs Lahore Qalandars Match Preview: November 14, 2020Overall, Lahore Qalandars have a balanced squad with great depth in batting despite the absence of Lynn and Wiese. In their absence, Ben Dunk who has scored 266 runs at 53.20 in 8 matches with a strike rate of 186.01 could be key to LQ’s fortunes. Tamim Iqbal could help compensate for Chris Lynn’s absence in LQ’s lineup. While Wiese’s absence does leave a vacuum in their bowling, LQ still have the likes of in-form Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf leading their attack with spinners Samit Patel and Md Faizan adding variety.

Peshawar Zalmi

have to rely heavily on their domestic players such as Akmal, Malik, Haider Ali and Wahab Riaz, as there are a few question marks over the form of their overseas players. Though Faf du Plessis did have a few good innings in the recently concluded IPL, he did not set the stands on fire. Liam Livingstone, Daren Sammy and Carlos Brathwaite have been less than impressive in recent matches played by them.
